Extracts From The Association Newsletters
As published some time ago, it is now no longer possible due to the amount of work this involves for the complete newsletter to be published on the site. However,
selected extracts from each letter will be published on THIS page from December 2010. If you have any comments about the newsletter or wish to contribute to it,
please contact the editor Peter Ralph

    2011 Reunion

The date of the 2011 Reunion/AGM at the Northampton Marriott has been changed to the original weekend of 17 to 19 June 2011. Thischange of date has been
made necessary because MOTO GP has changed the date of its race meet to the weekend 10 to 12th June. This change could result in considerable traffic
    difficulties for our members
wishing to access the Hotel. You will be pleased to know that because of the inconvenience caused by this change, the hotel has offered a 50% reduction in its
bar prices throughout the whole weekend. In addition it will lay on a free meet and greet reception just before the dinner on the Saturday night. Book Early -
Avoid Disappointment!! Booking forms can be obtained either by post or email from Bryan
    Hoare.

    2012 Reunion

The venue for the 2012 Reunion/AGM is scheduled to be the North of England. We have found that most hotels meeting our requirements in the region are
already fully booked as they are located in close proximity to pre-Olympic Games training centres. We have, however, been able to negotiate a very good
package with the Preston Marriott Hotel, where we have previously held a very successful reunion, with only a 5% increase on the costs paid in 2009 when VAT
    was 15%.

Forgotten Pensions – Bill Hansford (3rd)

Veterans who served since 1975 and did not qualify for an immediate pension may be entitled to a Preserved Pension.
Rules for entitlement changed on 6th April 1975 and pensions were preserved for payment at age 60 for all discharged over the age of 26 with a minimum of
5years service. In 1978 the age criterion was dropped and in 1988 the qualifying period was reduced to 2 years. Preserved pensions have to be claimed at age
    60, or 65 if service
began after 5th April 2006. To find out if you re entitled contact the JPAC Enquiry Service on 0141 224 3600 or email JPAC’@spva.mod.uk
Contributions - Message From The Editor

I know that members realise that the Newsletter doesn’t just happen and that I am very dependent on contributions from them. Why is it then that I get so few?
This month has been a really lean one. As you will see we have 625 members, each one of whom has had a life both in and after service with interesting and/or
amusing incidences. Let’s hear about them.

    Reunion - Bryan Hoare

A reminder that the reunion is over the weekend of 17th / 19th June 2011. There are rooms remaining from our original allocation, therefore, if any other
member wishes to attend the Reunion please contact Bryan Hoare as soon as possible.

Ladies Outing Response for partners to travel on the Ladies Outing has been unusually low. The minimum number necessary to make the hire of a coach viable
is 45; so far 32 of our ladies have booked to go on an outing. Therefore if any more ladies would like to go on the ladies outing on the afternoon of Saturday 18th
June, please contact Bryan Hoare as soon as possible. A tour to Stoke Bruerne via some villages followed by cream tea is one option on offer, but nothing
    definite has been decided yet.
