Swindon 2010 Reunion Golf
Match Winners
Harry Trumbell and Steve Sanders with
Burnett Shield
David Marshall and Steve Sanders -
Nearest the Pin
Steve Sanders and Bill Cooper for
Longest Drive
What an excellent event it was at Swindon.  That old (or is it young) master Harry Trumbell winning the Burnett Shield (3rd
time)and Tony Hammond runner up.  Madge Madden-Colenso was ladies winner.  Excellent games both.  New boy Bill Cooper took
the prize for longest drive and Nearest the Pin was David Marshall.  A great round of golf but if I played again I would take
swimming trunks - water water everywhere.  But a great course.

The next match is on Wednesday 14th July at Mowsbury Golf Club,  Bedford with tees from 11.00.
www.mowsburygolf.bedford.gov.uk .  There is coffee and Bacon Baps on arrival after 10.00.  Soup, Roast Beef and Gateaux is
dinner when jackets and ties are to be worn.  We can then look really good in the presentation of the Don Fisher Trophy after we
win it - always be positive I say.

Some have already sent the £40 made payable to RAFHAAAGS to Mr Graham Horlock, 15 Elsworth Close, St Ives, Cambs, PE27
5YB.  If you have not sent off then please may I ask it is sent now.  Outstanding are Mike and Madge Heritage, Ron Anders, Peter
Hall, David Marshall, Harry Trumbell, Don Roper and Bill Cooper.  This includes a couple of players who have not confirmed.

If you are no longer intending to play can you let me know, and when you have sent money can you let me know as well.
Meanwhile below please see the pictures of winners being presented at the AGM in Swindon.
Golf Update October 2010

The Admin Apprentices will pay two matches in 2011; one against the Aircraft Apprentices at Mowsbury in July, and the other
preceding the Annual Reunion at Northampton on 17th June.

If you would like to play with other RAF Apprentices then 6 of us have now joined the RAF Halton Aircraft Apprentices Golf Society.
We enjoy up to 12 excellent games during the summer with a great set of guys.  Two of us also join them for their Away Days
week which next year is in Shropshire 6th to 10th June (with wives/partner).  If you would like more information then please
contact me steveksanders@googlemail.com .

Reunion Golf 17th June 2011

Two venues are available to us the Delapre Golf Club and the Collingtree Park Golf Club.  The former municipal and the latter
Private.

Distance from Marriott Hotel (NN4 7HW) is less than a mile and 2.5 miles for the second but my thoughts have been twofold, cost
and difficulty (hills and water).  Collingtree will cost an additional £20 and has, it appears from their web site, a number of difficult
holes and a fair amount of water (not as much as Swindon however) a couple of reviews say “stern test”.  Delapre is a parkland
course and has reviews stating words like “excellent for my standard of play” and “club golfers course”.

My decision at this time is to play at the Delapre Golf Club which appears to offer what the Admin Apps Golf Society wants.  A
social game of golf with the ability of walking 18 and not feeling you have played 36.

8 Names are booked for the event in 2011 and I look forward to adding a few more to play for the Burnett Sheild and Burnett Shield
(ladies) on a day I am sure will be fine and sunny.  Prizes to be presented at the AGM as this year.

Update February 2011

Fixtures

We have a number of entries for this year’s golf before the Re-Union at Northampton 17th June. We will play The Oaks course at
Delapre Golf club which is a beautiful 18 Hole Course set in 260 acres of matureparkland with enough ditches, streams and
bunkers to ensure an enjoyable and challenging round. There are also 4 x 9 hole course ranging from pitch and put to a
challenging hillside 9 if you fancy a practice. The Aircraft Apprentices will be beaten by Admin Apprentices (I hope) at Mowsbury
on 13th July to win the Don Fisher trophy. The venue is just outside Bedford and easily accessible from A6 and M1. If you can
attend we would love to see you.

Golf – How Well Can YOU Play?

I had a comment from one of our members “I am not good enough to play in the pre Re-Union Golf match”.  The answer to this my
friends is “RUBBISH” – that is not a comment on play but on the statement.

If you feel 18 holes it too far to walk; a buggy is available (and this is from one member who has to use one – sadly).   If a 28
handicap is what you play to – then play a 28 handicap.  If you have not played for a time – use this match as the friendly to get
back into it.

The game will be played at The Oaks course at Delapre Golf club, Northampton, which is a beautiful 18 Hole Course set in 260
acres of mature parkland on 17th June.  If you are at the Re-Union and can swing a club – let me know your name and I will sort
you out a tee time.

Mowsbury on 13th July is the venue of our Annual match against the Aircraft Apprentices.  If you can play you are most welcome.
